Wool Soakers for Swapping

These knitted diaper covers were fun, but as usual I’m glad to have another Sewing Mamas swap contribution over and done with. Every time I participate in one I end up feeling so burned out from the creation phase…. but then I adore getting goodies sent to me in the mail which inevitably makes me forget the earlier hassle…. and so the cycle continues. This time around I get to look forward to four packages of handmade cloth diapering gear. Really, I don’t know what I have to complain about!
Anyway, the two on the left are from a Little Turtle Knits pattern called the Ribby Wrap. I like these because they’re easy to knit (that is, the pattern is easy to follow while watching TV), and I like that they button on rather than pull-on (seems like a good thing for a nervous first-time mom).
The ones on the right are from the online Curly Purly pattern. These are pull-ons, but I was drawn to the creative ribbing at the top (starts out one-by-one rib, then five-by-three, then seven-by-one, then stockinette) that makes them very stretchy. I’ve also tried the Fern and Faerie pattern which is very similar and little bit more straight-forward.
Yarn-wise, the varigated ones are made from Lion Brand Fisherman’s Wool dyed with Kool Aid. (Wow, that was way fun! I got pointers from here.) The other two are Cascade 220.
