Just checking in

I’ve been avoiding the computer during non-work hours these days, but today I sat down to create a flyer to post up at the office about selling our piano. I have mixed feelings about letting it go . . . but when it comes down to it, I don’t use it enough to justify the space it takes up in our tiny house. My hope is to one day invest in a nice electric piano, or just a smaller console-style upright, that won’t take up so much space. The one we have now is a very old, very large, former player-piano upright. It works just fine for my casual use, but someone who’s willing to invest in some maintenance could really make it great. (If you’re in the Indianapolis area and intersted, let me know.)

Anyway, this post is just a hodge-podge of catching up info, beginning with some pictures of recent crafting:

First, an infant gown with lap shoulders. This is one of the first things I’ve made using the new serger (still getting the hang of it).

Progress on the olympic Trellis sweater. One sleeve still needs seaming — and obviously needs blocking badly!

And some examples of the homemade fitted diapers I’ve been working on (recycled t-shirts) and a couple of knitted covers. These are all in ultra-tiny newborn size, but I’ve been working up a stash of bigger sizes, too. (Remind me to do a more detailed post about cloth diapers — patterns, questions, etc.)

In baby news, I’m counting down the days until Thursday when I go for an ultrasound and (hopefully) will find out the baby’s gender. Hearing the heartbeat has been a thrill, but I cannot wait to actually see this little one on the screen! Kate and I both think that we’ve got a girl on the way, so we’ll soon find out how good our intuition really is.

I’m 18 weeks in now and still feeling pretty good. I still have some days when I get wiped out easily, but for the most part my energy level is good. Mom has spoiled me with several maternity clothes shopping sprees, and I’m thankful for the comfy clothes. If you didn’t know me previously I’m still not sure whether you’d think I looked pregnant — but I feel it and my old wardrobe definitely no longer fits!
