Whooooo’s got a new bag?

This is the Amy Butler Swing Bag pattern made using a couple of fabrics from her Ginger Bliss collection. I’ve been hoarding her stuff in my stash for months. Now that I’ve finally made the first cut, I don’t see an end in sight! This one is (probably) going to my mom for her birthday later this month, but I’m absolutely going to make one for myself pronto.
Our handsome model was present in our backyard when we moved into our house. At the time, he was acccompanied by many, many other statues, rock formations, minature wrought iron furniture, and other oddities. Our tiny yard was positively crammed with “stuff,” and we’ve spent a lot of effort just trying to dig out from under it all over the past couple of summers. I’m glad that we decided to keep this guy though.
Here’s a closer look at the print that’s on the inside:

I used a lightweight cotton canvas as the inner lining, and I’m really happy with the result. Not too stiff like true canvas would be, but much more sturdy than if I’d skipped that step altogether (which I was considering).

I love love love your bag. I actually just purchased a bag in that print off of ebay - I can’t sew at all but love Amy Butler’s fabrics and patterns soooo much. I keep hoping that she will start selling ready made bags for all of us who are sewing deficient.

Hi! That fabric is fab-yoo-lus! It’s very crisp and mod, I love it. And you picked such a perfect lining, it looks GREAT! Plus, any handbag that goes with owl statuary is a winner

Oooh! Yard stuff! Have you thrown it all out? Or is there a possibility of claiming a few items? Maybe in June when we come to Indy?
(Just catching up on the blogs)
Incidentally, the anti-SPAM code was “MEOW”. Cute!
