What I’m Up to This Month
I have knitting to show you, but the camera is sitting on my parents’ kitchen table across town. Arg. So, the photographic evidence will have to wait.
In addition to the knitting, I’ve been hanging out at the new SewingMamas.com forums. Even though I don’t (yet) fulfill the “mama” aspect of the site, I’m finding that they are a very friendly and talented group.
The truth is that I’m nursing a serious case of baby fever these days and so I find myself drawn to all things motherly. We’re plotting a jump into parenthood sometime soonish — but in the meantime I’m trying channel most of that energy into spoiling all of the little munchkins that I know — and Tivo-ing shows like A Baby Story and Birth Day.
So anyway, the women of Sewing Mamas have just kicked off a Sewing Stash Contest for the month of August. Seeing as my fabric stash is second only to my yarn stash, I figure that I should join in and see if I can make a dent in it. There’s a whole point structure based on how many yards of fabric you use, plus notions, and a few other things. Points are deducted for any new purchases made during the month. Various participants are donating prizes, and although I’m not even close to being a serious contender, it’s fun.
Maybe we should invent a similar use-up-your-knittng-stash game sometime?
