There’s been too much crafting and not enough blogging going on around here! I’ve been especially focused on sewing lately, because I’m trying to finish up a few things to bring along on vacation.

I have a real love/hate relationship with craft deadlines, it seems. On the one hand, over-extending myself around Christmas time can be a real drag. When I’m crunched to meet a deadline like that I feel all this pressure to get things done, and I end up not really enjoying the process any longer. On the other hand, when I don’t have any deadlines at all, I end up flitting from one project to the next and not really finishing anything at all.

This vacation crafting that I’ve been doing is about right level of motivation for me. I guess the key is to set some kind of goal for myself — but preferably not one that too, too important. Like right now, I’ve got a list in mind of things to sew and/or knit so that I can wear them on our cruise, which is really motivating me to get a lot more done than I normally would. But, if I don’t finish everything it’s no big deal. I won’t feel like I’m letting anyone down if I don’t finish one more skirt.

So. Goals are good for my crafting… “deadlines, ” maybe not so much. Good to know.

I’m pictureless right now, but here’s a quick status of what’s been created recently and what’s on deck:

• Lace Trim Bolero: major pieces knitted, sewing up nearly completed, awaiting trim
• Munki Munki skirt: finished and sooo cute!
• Silver top to wear on formal cruise night: finished (second time’s the charm on this one!)
• Silver handbag made from leftover fabric: in progress (highly experimental… may not work out)
• Wondering if I have time to sew another skirt or sundress??
