Guess what soft furry animals were hanging out at the state fairgrounds this weekend?

I don’t know if you know this, but I’ve had a sudden onset recently of alpaca love. If these aren’t some of the most adorable animals you’ve ever seen, then I don’t know what else to say about them.

We met these guys from all over the country at the Alpaca Futurity Show. We only found out about the event about an hour before it ended (fortunately, the fairgrounds are nearby). By the time we got there, most of the people in attendance were focused on the final rounds of judging. So, we got to wander around and coo at the other alpacas in their little pens.

Kate and I like to fantasize about ways to work from home, and I’m stuck on the idea of having an alpaca farm. In my imagination, this plan goes along quite well with another recurring daydream of having a small bed-and-breakfast. You all would come and vacation with us on the farm, wouldn’t ya?
