Fall Knitty

I’m so impressed with the latest installment of knitty.com! I don’t know how likely I am to tackle many of the designs soon — but wow, I just thought that everything looked especially stylish in this issue.

My favorites at the moment are Arisag, Josephine, Flora, and Hipster.

Flora is the one that I want to cast-on for immediately. I’ve never tried a knitted flower, and I think it’s time I did!

The final episode of The Cut aired last night. Am I the only person watching that show? It’s sort of a combo between Project Runway and The Apprentice featuring Tommy Hilfiger. I liked the show more and more as time went on, but my two favorite contestants (Deanna and Wes) were cut last week — so I wasn’t super thrilled with who won. I thought that all of the final contestants had definite strengths and talents; I’m just not conviced that any of them presented the total package of a well-rounded designer.

Still, it’s fun to imagine what I might have done for some of the challenges had I been on a show like that (ha!). I’m not sure I would have the stamina to keep up with a lot of the other players — but if I could tackle the challenges on a more leisurely schedule, say… that would be interesting. The final challenge was to design a new “lifstyle brand” concept for Tommy H. and to show it off in a Macy’s store window. I think I would have done a nursery scene and designed some funky maternity and baby gear.
