Lacy Zigzag Scarf

This is a spontaeous scarf made from two skeins of Knit Picks Andean Treasure in the color Moss. I pictured this yarn as a long, skinny, lacy scaf — so I basically just flipped through my 365 Knitting Stitches a Year calendar and experimented until a found something I liked. Although it has a definte tendency to want to curl up on the edges, I just love how this came out!
Here’s a closer look at the lace:

And here’s the “pattern” I came up with for it:
Lacy Zigzag Scarf
Materials:
2 skeins (220 yards) Knit Picks Andean Treasure (100% Baby Alpaca)
Size US 6 Needles (or US 5 — I knit really tightly)
Gauge:
6 sts = 1 inch (not that it really matters!)
Cast on 25 stitches
Rows 1-2: Knit all stitches
Begin Lace Pattern:
Row 3: *Sl 1, Kt, psso, K2, YO, K2; Repeat from * to last st, K1
Row 4: Purl
Row 5-8: Repeat rows 3 and 4 twice
Row 9: K3, *YO, K2, K2tog, K2; Repeat from * to last 4 stitches, YO, K2, K2tog
Row 10: Purl
Rows 11-14: Repeat rows 9 and 10 twice
Repeat lace pattern until scarf reaches desired length
Knit two rows
Bind off
I found that the lace pattern is pretty easy to memorize, and I was able to work on this while watching TV. So long as I always worked through a complete repetition of the lace pattern, then I always knew where to begin whenever I’d pick it up again. The lace pattern requires a multiple of 6 +1 stitches, so you can easily make this wider or narrower to suit your taste.

I love your scarf, it came out beautifully. Thanks for posting the pattern, it’s definitely going on my to do list. Well. it is the season to start the Christmas knitting after all.
Thanks for stopping by my blog by the way. I appreciated your kind words of comfort about my god awful cardi. My husband (quite disturbingly) loved that you said he looked like an elf. He’s such a geek, that in some strange way he liked the idea!
