Bird Watch

Total number of birds spotted *inside* the house so far: 3

Yep, another chilly bird found its way into our house yesterday. Last winter, we heard clattering and chirping coming from the firepace, twice. This time, the little critter somehow managed to show up in the kitchen, of all places, just hopping to and fro on top of the cabinets. Hard to see him, but here he is peeking out from behind the mini crockpot:

Fortunately, by now, we have developed a fairly reliable method for shooing wayward birds out of the house. One thing’s for sure, our three resident cats aren’t much help. Either they were already so bored from chasing it around all day that they no longer cared about the bird by the time we got home (doubt it, seems like there would be tell-tale evidence of that) — or else they didn’t even notice it at all.

What’s the method? How freaky, birds must be mighty cold! Did you know you’ve been tagged? http://craftapalooza.typepad.com/crafted/2005/01/tagged.html

The secret method is to shoo the bird (just keep chasing him, basically) from room to room until he eventually ends up in the sun room at the back of the house. Then, quickly shut the door leading into the sun room, run around to the back of the house, and shoo the bird out the back door.
