This is the sight that met me as I came in the door yesterday. Holy yarn explosion, Batman! I inherited this massive amount of yarn (there’s actually a couple of grocery bag’s worth that isn’t pictured) from Kate’s aunt. We didn’t know anything about it. What a birthday surprise, huh?!

All I’ve been able to do so far is to sort it into groups. There’s a large shopping bag full of kitchen cotton in all sorts of fun colors. And about that much cozy Lion Brand Homespun in a few different colors. The rest is worsted weight acrylic in just about every color you can imagine. Plus, there’s a box of partially finished crochet projects. Sounds to me like it’s high time I dabbled in some crochet. I’m poised to be a regular afghan-making factory around here!

But that’s not all! This truly was a yarnerrific birthday. I also got TWO great gift certificates to my local yarn store, and of course I’ve already spent a good portion of them! Here’s a peek at my loot:

With all of these goodies to play with, it’s harder than ever to go back to work this morning!
