Inspiration Returns
My current projects just aren’t very inspiring. The tank was started to knitalong with some co-workers who never actually took up the project. The bag was started as a way to use up some stash yarn. Yawn. Neither one had much excitement to begin with, and it shows. I still intend to go back to them eventually, and they both make nice mindless, portable projects — but without any deadlines or inspiration, I just don’t end up working on them much.
So, I’m putting everything else on the back burner and starting fresh with THREE new things — all of which excite me very much. Project number 1 is a one-year-birthday gift for my dear friend Jeni’s little darlin’ next month. The other 2 are destined to be Christmas presents — chosen because the patterns reminded me of my nephew and husband, respectively. And because they’ll give me the opportunity to learn some new knitting moves: intarsia and cables. Yay! Long-term, short-term; simple designs, new designs; cotton, wool; small size, adult size… now I’ve got a little bit of everything going on.
Introducing…
1. For Miriam: Sundress from Adorable Knits for Tots (Zoe Mellor), size 1-2 years. I’m awaiting some mercerized cotton from Elann in lilac and cream.

2. For Nephew Jake: Tiger Sweater from Animal Knits (Zoe Mellor), size 1-2 years. Using Jeni McMahon DK wool… just waiting to find a replacement ball of orange!

3. For Husband Kate: “Stevie” sweater from Rowan The Cork Collection, size Medium. Using Rown Cork in the color Turbid (this *just* arrived this very minute from Threadbear!)

Which will go onto the needles first? I’ve swatched for the Tiger Sweater, but that one will have to wait because I need to cast on with the missing orange color first. My priority is really the Sundress, but I’m waiting for the yarn. SO, it looks like I’ll work on some swatches for the Cork sweater and maybe spend some time practicing with cables. Once I have all my supplies, I’ll try to zoom along on the sundress and work on the others in the background.

Hi Jena,
I’m searching for errata for Zoe Mellor’s tiger sweater pattern in Animal Knits and your blog came up….did you complete it? How was it? I’m having a hard time with the neck shaping on the front–I can’t get the math to add up, but can’t find any pattern corrections online. I’d love to know if you were able to follow the pattern!
I like your blog by the way!
Best,
