Haiku Hiccups

The body of the Haiku cardigan is done… mostly. That is, I thought it was done before I realized that I’d misread and over-simplified the pattern directions somewhat.

I got it stuck in my head that the pattern began and ended exactly the same way and that button holes would not be necessary. Why did I think this? So, it’s finished except that I was supposed to add another couple of inches, including buttonholes. Oh, well. I’ll just have to un-bind-off and finish it up for real.

(Also note the tension differences from where I began compared to the side I ended with. oops! Hopefully, some blocking will repair the situation…)

Gosh that turned out cute despite the slight…warpage! :) Have fun with the sleeves.

I forgot the buttonholes on my first baby sweater too. This was the fault of the pattern designer, but had I read ahead and thought hard enough about it, I would have realized that.

Mine’s in a super-super-bulky (not just super-bulky–it’s like rope!) yarn though, so it will be really easy to just wedge some buttons between the stitches.

Hey! I’m making a Haiku in Bernat Cotton Tots too! I making mine even smaller for my 4 month old, hopefully my calculations are right! Can’t wait to see the finished product!
