Candy Apple Ribbon

I’m still here! Still knitting! Just haven’t been sitting down to the computer as much.

Thank you so much everyone for the neckline knitting tips. I only just today finally got over to the knit shop to pick up the correct size needles, so I haven’t tackled the problem area yet. But I feel like my confidence has been renewed! And hope to between now and the weekend.

In the meantime, I’ve been trucking along on the City Tank but the progress isn’t much to look at right now. I should have the back piece finished soon, and then I’ll post some more pictures.

I’ve also been swatching, swatching, and re-swatching with the pretty Isis ribbon for the Hip to Knit tank — but to no avail. The ribbon is gorgeous, but I finally decided that it just isn’t destined for this project. I brought most of it back to the store tonight and traded it for Crystal Palace Deco-Ribbon in Candy Apple Red. It’s just a bit wider, and seems to be working out much better. I was afraid that the Isis would have turned out a bit too loose and see-through at the gauge needed for the pattern.

It’s not the greatest picture, but here’s a peek at the new yarn:

This little swatch on the recommended size 10 needles actually comes out a little small on this yarn, too. But I’m close, and I can tell that it’s going to be just fine on slightly bigger needles.

What’s up with me knitting so tightly, by the way? Do I need to lighten up and relax more, or something? I mean, I can adjust my needle size… but it would be nice to get gauge on the first try for once!

And I’ll leave you with a lovely view of the free-range chickens we met last weekend at the winter farmer’s market, held in at an organic dairy on the outskirts of town. Can’t you just hear them clucking away in the backgound?
