Baking & Raking
Finally — a weekend to spend outdoors! If anything, the weather has actually been TOO hot for my taste. (What ever happened to 60-70-degree spring weather? What’s up with going directly from freezing to 80+ degrees??)
First up, Saturday morning, Kate drove downtown to deliver our cookies and banana bread to our local MoveOn.org Bake Sale. Here’s a glimpse at the bake sale itself as they were getting set up.
And here are a few of the goodies that we contributed:

Meanwhile, I started plotting out a location for our vegetable garden in the yard. This is the sunniest corner:

My intent is to dig up two long skinny plots with a grassy path down the center so that I can access everything without having to tromp through the dirt all the time. I’m not the best at estimating how much space we’ll need, so I may end up putting our herbs in with a flower bed on the other side of the yard. This area will be home to tomatoes, beans, peppers, carrots, zucchini, cucumbers, and melons.

Good luck with the garden! My parents were already cutting rhubarb from theirs when I was home this weekend.
I think gardening is therapeutic in the same way that knitting is–using your hands to create some wonderful results.
